Service & Support
Follow-up care is the most important part of your hearing rehabilitation and so we encourage you to visit us often in the first few months following the fitting of new hearing aids. During these appointments, we will ensure that your hearing aids are properly adjusted and that you are comfortable with your new hearing abilities. In addition, we will teach you to maintain your hearing aid. After the purchase of your hearing aid, we will offer free cleaning and performance checks to maximize the aid's life and effectiveness. We also carry the accessories necessary to keep your hearing aids in optimum working order. Throughout the year we offer the most competitive battery prices in the Niagara Peninsula.
What we're all about
What is a Doctor of Audiology?
A Doctor of Audiology is a professional who is trained to determine the nature and the degree of hearing loss and/or balance disorders and then prescribes the appropriate therapy or device to suit the individual needs. Doctors of Audiology can either first receive a 7 or 8 year Master's degree, complete a year of clinical training and then go on to complete a Doctoral degree in Audiology or go directly into a Doctoral degree program after they complete their Bachelor of Science degree. Their academic and clinical training provides the foundation for patient management. Their professional training is completed during their internships, which typically last 12 to 24 months.
What does an audiologist do?
Audiologists determine appropriate patient treatment of hearing and balance problems by combining a complete history with a variety of specialized auditory and vestibular assessments. The objective of a modern Audiology facility is to provide a complete service to their patients. As such, our Audiologists also dispense and fit hearing aids. Audiologists may be found working in medical centers and hospitals, private practice settings, schools, government health facilities and agencies. They also work as instructors in Audiology, Speech Pathology and Medical schools in colleges and universities. As a primary hearing health provider, Audiologists are trained to recognize abnormalities in the auditory and vestibular systems. As such they are qualified to refer patients to physicians, specialists and various other healthcare providers. They also provide their expertise to industry and government suggesting ways to minimize the impact of noise on people's hearing. Audiologists engage in research in hearing science, and the habilitation and rehabilitation of individuals with hearing problems and are involved in the clinical education of students.
Why should someone with hearing loss be evaluated by an audiologist?
Audiologists hold masters or doctoral degrees from accredited universities with special training in the prevention, identification, assessment and non-medical treatment of hearing disorders. By virtue of their graduate education, professional certification and licensure, audiologists are the most qualified professionals to perform hearing tests, prescribe hearing aids and provide rehabilitative services for patients with hearing and balance disorders.
